What is Primary Care?

It is the first point of contact we have with health system - where we receive care for most of everyday health needs.

Principles of Primary Health Care

Primary health care (PHC) embodies five principles (Canadian Public Health Association, 1990):

1. equitable access to health for all populations;
2. maximum individual and community involvement and participation in the planning and operation of health care services;
3. emphasis on health promotion and illness prevention;
4. use of appropriate technology; and
5. integration of health within intersectoral collaboration
